San Francisco has many secrets; however, it’s no secret there is something novel, unusual, and curious to do every night of the week
Since the Gold Rush – the City has been famous for interesting people, fabulous food, and wonderful venues. Perhaps you are suddenly single in the City and looking for fun? Here you have it:
The San Francisco Seven Not-So-Secret Spots:
1.) Best Jazz in San Francisco? San Francisco Jazz Center is mecca. Star-filled shows with the likes of Ahmad Jamal, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Pedrito Martinez, David Sanborn & Bob James. The world-class Annual San Francisco Jazz Festival is a do-not-miss-event. Get tickets now.
2.) Feeling Spooky? Dying to see a haunted house? Now is the time for all good ghouls and boos to sign up for the Ghost Hunt walking tour. It’s fun, it’s a scream, and it’s spooky. Six nights a week at 7 PM Price: $20. An excellent tour of lower Pacific Heights. Jim Fassbinder, the guide is brilliant and witty and very scary.
3.) Friendliest bookstore in San Francisco plus music, events, readings, lectures? Check out Bird and Beckett – in the now so very hip and lively Glen Park district. Scan their literary and jazz joint schedule. They have parties, events, and music all the time.
4.) You’ll Haight it – after a primo dinner with tapas and Caribbean small plates at Cha-Cha-Cha, dance over to The Tornado in the Haight- where there are 50 beers on draft. Their famous, Oh, Happy Hour starts at 11:30 am and goes until 6:00 pm. Come on, come on, get happy!
5.) Salsa on Monday? You betcha! The Rocket Room at 406 Clement Street has Salsa Monday (Come for the lesson – stay for the dancing – ole!) and Comedy rocks on Tuesdays. Great location, fun venues.
6.) On A Mission- District… Don’t forget Amnesia – Monday is Bluegrass Night (Wednesday night is All That Jazz) and you will want to visit the very hip Elbo Room (it’s intimate- it’s really unique and very diverse) both on Valencia Street. Once upon at time, no one went to ‘the Mission’ – now everyone is there.
7.) A well-kept secret: Café d Melanio on Ocean Avenue near the Highway 280. Check out their tapas, tango, and live music. Semi-easy street parking. Arrive on the MUNI K-car car for the greatest of ease. Wine and beer from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Dinners on Friday and Saturday nights only.
