2013 New Year’s Goal: Amour and Silver Linings
If you are considering entering the wide, wonderful, world of Dating Again: come on in, the water’s fine. Okay, it can be deep. Sometimes cold. And very shallow. There may even be an undertow. On the other hand, it can be as idyllic as a Hawaiian beach. Rest assured, as you carefully wade into uncharted waters – you’ll see: there are lifesavers, games and toys. Come on, in 2013, resolve to dip your big toe in and test the dating waters. Splash around; play, flirt a little and frolic a lot.
Goal: Amour and Silver Linings
Talk to people who have ‘sipped the Kool-aid’ and have started dating again. Guaranteed, you will hear as many war stories as romantic fairy tales. Take everything with a grain, no – better make that a shaker – of salt.
You might encounter two distinctly different attitudes about the ‘new dating dynamics.” Some approach dating with unbridled enthusiasm and gusto. Think: Glee. On the other hand, others exercise total caution, and carefully guard their heart, their mind and body. Think: Fear Factor. It’s your call. Don’t be gob- smacked by the uncharted waters. Be open to new experiences.
Take your time
It’s okay to watch from the sidelines before sticking your big toe in and stirring things up. You might require something or someone to buoy you up (a mentor, a self-help-yourself book, a pep talk, glass of wine with friends) before you row merrily, merrily, down the Dating Game stream.
The San Francisco Bay Area is a hot bed of activity, opportunities, events and action. You won’t know what you are missing until you take that first step. Come on in, the water is fine.
So Many Verbs, So Little Time
We text, Twitter, Yelp, Skype, IM, Bing, Google, and blog. Best advice in the New Year? Push away; walk away, from all those little boxes. Get up off the couch, turn off your computer, iPad, iPhone, and get back in the game of life.
Start with eye contact. Put your security blanket phone down and look around. See people.
Smile and say “Happy New Year” to everyone – young, old, single, married.
Have a Happy New Year – plan to make great memories in 2013.
Courage is being afraid but going on anyhow. ~Dan Rather
