Breaking News: San Francisco is a dating Mecca

San Francisco, here I come!

The City makes the ‘Top Ten Best Cities for Dating‘ list according to studies by the Daily Beast.

The Daily Beast, using data pertaining to singles over the age of fifteen (Seriously?15?) combined a mere three factors to determine US dating capitals and who is hot and what is not.

Presto! DB evaluated the Top 25 Best Cities in the United States for dating. Scientific or superfluous? Who cares? San Francisco soared high over San Jose and Salt Lake City. No kidding. San Francisco has been called “The cool, grey city of love” (George Sterling) for decades.

Daily Beast: the new Scientific American?

Google Trends was yet another system to measure the popularity of five major dating websites: Match.com, eHarmony.com, okCupid.com, Plentyoffish.com, and Zoosk.com.

Is Plenty of Fish the one popular with singles over the age of 15? Inquiring minds want to know.

Dating Mecca? Says whom?

Ask Sid the San Francisco cynic about his ‘great dates’ and he deadpans with his favorite date: 1066 – Battle of Hastings. Divorced for a half a decade, Sid was once a man about town, a bon vivant and a “10″ – now – not so much. Time takes a toll and gravity works. Cruising Perry’s, the Balboa and Union Street are fading memories.

Sid, the confirmed bachelor, 52, and tired of the dating game, says he doesn’t pay attention to polls and sensational studies. He tried Match, Yahoo Personals, and AOL Love. Then he tried the tres cher questionable, local dating companies like variations of It’s Just Dinner or Lunch for Eight  (Hundred dollars – just to join) (See Yelp Reviews) and got fed up and disillusioned. He is flying solo.

His mantra: “The secret to happiness is low expectations.” San Francisco as a dating Mecca? No, he calls it “Limbo.”

San Francisco is one of the great cultural plateaus in the world….one of the really urbane communities in the United States…one of the truly cosmopolitan places – and for many, many years, it has always had a warm welcome for human beings from all over the world.
